Men's Soccer Hosts St. Thomas On Saturday Night

CHAPEL HILL, N.C. – North Carolina men's soccer returns home for a three-match home stand starting with St. Thomas at 6 p.m. on Saturday at Dorrance Field. The Heels enter the match at 6-1-4 (1-0-4 ACC), while the Tommies currently sit at 6-2-3 (1-1-0 Summit). The first 400 students will receive a men's soccer hat.

Tar Heel Tidbits
- This will be the first ever match-up between UNC and St. Thomas.
- Head Coach Carlos Somoano is in his 15th season at the helm of Carolina soccer (24th overall). He holds a career record of 182-64-53 and will coach his 300th game as UNC's head coach on Saturday.
- With the focus primarily on RPI, Carolina sits at No. 18 entering the weekend, which is sixth among ACC squads.
- Carolina is currently on a seven-match unbeaten run, winning three and drawing the other four against one of the nation's toughest stretches. The Heels have only conceded two goals over the seven games.
- GK Andrew Cordes has played every minute in goal for the Tar Heels this season, posting a .818 save percentage. He has six clean sheets on the season, including four of the last five matches, and 26 for his career.
- Nacho Abeal has made his presence during his first season as a Tar Heel. He currently leads the team in assists (7) and points (13) and ranks second in goals (3). He's now scored 14 goals during his collegiate career, including six game winners, to go along with 12 assists.
- Despite missing two games, Gabriel Bracken Serra leades the team in goals (4) and ranks second in points (9). He scored the sixth game winner of his career in UNC's win at Louisville last Friday.
- Luca Nikolai entered 2025 ranked No. 9 on TopDrawerSoccer's Top 100. He's tallied three goals, including a brace at Lipscomb, and two assists this season.
