The Tar Heel men’s and women’s soccer programs joined forces in September for the Carolina Soccer Kicks Childhood Cancer fundraising campaign, to benefit the UNC Lineberger pediatric hematology/oncology clinic. The teams raised nearly $15,000 and presented a check to Lineberger at the men’s game against Duke on Sept. 27. Throughout the month, the teams hosted 11 current or former patients as honorary captains for games.
Mauricio Pineda captains the men’s team and Taylor Otto serves as one of three captains for the women’s team. Both were leaders in the campaigns fundraising efforts.
