1983— David Drechsler: Football (Cleveland, N.C.)
Was Carolina’s first two-time All-America in football since Charlie Justice and Art Weiner in 1948-49. Drechsler was an athletic and versatile player who lined up at all five positions on the offensive line at some point in his career. He was a two-time first-team All-ACC guard and named first-team All-America by the writers in 1981 and 1982. Another in a long line of outstanding O-linemen from the early 1980s, Drechsler opened the running lanes for Amos Lawrence and Kelvin Bryant, who combined for four 1,000-yard seasons over his last three years. He was Second-team Academic All-America in 1981. Drechsler was selected in the second round of the 1983 NFL Draft by the Green Bay Packers.
