Raleigh, NC--Carolina Baseball defeated N.C. State 13-12 at Doak Field Friday night after being swept by the Pack in their previous two trips to "The Doak". In a meeting that was supposed to be a pitchers' duel between Carolina's red-hot lefty Mike Bynum and ACC ERA leader Rodney Ormond, the bats came through to lead the way.
Both teams pounded opposing pitchers for a number of runs throughout the game and neither starter made it through the fourth inning. UNC's Derrick DePriest was the lone standout on the mound, as he came in to throw 3.1 innings of shutout relief to pick up the win for the Tar Heels.
Carolina squares off again on Saturday evening against the Wolfpack when fireballing right hander Kyle Snyder will take the mound. The game can be heard on 1360 WCHL in Chapel Hill, or by clicking the listen button on the Tarheelblue.com baseball page.
