Tar Heels Seeded Third in ACC Softball

CHAPEL HILL, N.C. - North Carolina will be the third seed in the ACC Softball Tournament when play begins on Fri., May 14. The tournament, which runs May 14-16, will be held at Lady Seminole Field in Tallahassee, Fla. Maryland is seeded first, followed by Florida State, UNC, Virginia and Georgia Tech.
The Tar Heels, 40-20 overall and 4-4 in the ACC, tied with Virginia for third in the conference and the seeding was decided by a blind draw. A blind draw was also used to determine first and second places between Florida State and Maryland.

Fri., May 14:
Game 1: #4 Virginia vs. #5 Georgia Tech, 3 p.m.;
Game 2: #2 Florida State vs. #3 North Carolina, 5 p.m.;
Game 3: #1 Maryland vs. Game 1 winner, 7 p.m.
Sat., May 15:
Game 4: Game 1 loser
vs. Game 2 loser, 3 p.m.;
Game 5: Game 2 winner vs. Game 3 winner, 5 p.m.;
Game 6: Game 3 loser vs. Game 4 winner
Sun, May 16:
Game 7: Game 5 loser vs. Game 6 winner;
Championship game, Game 8: Game 5 winner vs. Game 7 winner, 3:30 p.m.
(If the winner of Game 5 loses Game 8, Game 9 will be played at 6 p.m. to decide the championship.)
