CHAPEL HILL, N.C. - Carolina softball bounced back with a 10-7 victory over Wofford on Wednesday evening at Anderson Stadium.

Sanaa Thompson showed her speed off in the first, scoring from second base on a ground ball to third to go up 1-0.

Wofford wouldn't go away easy putting up four runs in the third to go up 4-1.

The bats woke up in the bottom of the third inning, sparked by Shelby Barbee. Barbee kept the team's home run streak alive with a two-run shot for her 11th of the season. Carolina has now hit a home run in 28 straight games, a program record and the best in the nation. Raegan Jennings, Kiannah Pierce, and Thompson all drove in runs in the inning, expanding the lead to 8-4. All seven runs in the inning came with two outs.

Wofford added two more runs in the top of the fifth to bring it within two, but Carolina responded by Jennings stealing home to score, and then Thompson singled to send Wilson home for the second run of the inning, building the lead to 10-6.

Wofford got a run back in the top of the seventh to cut the lead to three, but couldn't get another run across the board after that.

Carly Maxton came in for relief, Kenna Raye Dark in the third inning, picking up the win and moving to 5-2 on the season. Kendall Frost picked up her first save of the season as she navigated a bases-loaded jam in the bottom of the seventh.

UNC now looks towards the Mizuno Showdown against No. 22 Arizona State and Marist beginning on Friday.
