Men's Soccer Coach Bolowich Receives National Merit Award

PHILADELPHIA, Pa. - University of North Carolina men's soccer coach Elmar Bolowich has been named the 1999 awardee of the National Intercollegiate Soccer Officials Association National Merit Award. Bolowich received the honor Jan. 22 at the 52nd annual National Soccer Coaches Association of America Honor Award Banquet in Philadelphia.
The National Merit Award is given annually to one currently active college coach and one currently active high school coach whose reputations are recognized by soccer officials as praiseworthy and reflective of the highest standards of professional and ethical behavior. South Carolina native Thomas E. Reilly was the 1999 high school awardee.
Criteria for the award include the following: the coach must be currently active; the coach must have been a member of the NSCAA for a minimum of five years; the coach must have a minimum of five years coaching experience; and the coach must have earned a reputation for fairness, honesty and integrity in his/her relationships with athletes, fellow coaches and soccer officials.
