Kyle Snyder Is 7th Overall Pick In The Draft

Kyle Snyder has been selected by the Kansas City Royals as the 7th pick in the first
round of the Major League Baseball Draft. Snyder, a 6-8, 215 righthanded pitcher from
Sarasota, Fla., compiled a 7-5 record with an ERA of 3.82 during the 1999 season. Snyder was
hampered by tendinitis during the middle part of the season.
Snyder was the first ACC player taken in the draft.
Other ACC players taken in the first round were:
13th pick -- Mike Paradis of Clemson -- Baltimore Orioles
25th pick -- Mike MacDougal of Wake Forest -- Kansas City
The first overall pick was Josh Hamilton of Athens Drive HS in Raleigh, N.C. Hamilton was taken by the Tampa Bay Devil Rays. Another high-schooler, Josh Beckett of Spring HS in Spring, Texas, was taken 2nd by the Florida Marlins. Southern California's Eric Munson was the first collegiate player picked. Munson was selected as the third overall pick by the Detroit Tigers.
