Nevada Ends Heels' Season, 5-1

Matthew Rainer tossed a six-hit complete game to lead the Nevada WolfPack to a 5-1 win over North Carolina in NCAA Tournament action at Palo Alto, Calif. The loss ends the Tar Heels' season, while Nevada advances to Sunday's action against Stanford.
Rainer (11-3) struck out six in hurling his first complete game of the season. Ryan Snare (6-5) took the loss for UNC, giving up five runs on eight hits in 6.0 innings.
Matt Ortiz had a run-scoring sacrifice fly in the first, then scored another run on a throwing error in the third.
Tyrell Godwin drove in UNC's only run in fourth with a single, cuttting the margin to 3-1, but Nevada came back with a run in the bottom of the fourth on Joe Inglett's triple.
Nevada scored the game's final run on Arona Taele's double in the bottom of the fifth.
Inglett ended the game with three hits, a single, double and triple.
Ryan Earey had two hits for Carolina.
The Tar Heels end the season at 41-18, while Nevada improves to 38-19.
The WolfPack must beat host team Stanford twice on Sunday to advance to Super Regional action next weekend.
