CHAPEL HILL, N.C. - The University of North Carolina men's soccer team, riding a four-game winning streak, is ranked No. 12 in this week's National Soccer Coaches Association of America/adidas Men's NCAA Division I National Rankings, released Monday afternoon. The Tar Heels, who were unranked two weeks ago, earned a ranking of No. 24 last week after a 2-1 win over Atlantic Coast Conference rival Clemson. This week, UNC defeated Lehigh and Alabama-Birmingham in the Nike Carolina Classic in Chapel Hill.
Creighton, the only team to defeat UNC this season, was ranked No. 1 in last week's NSCAA/adidas poll and is No. 3 this week.
Maryland, ranked No. 4, tops five ranked ACC teams this week. Duke (No. 5), Virginia (No. 16) and Wake Forest (No. 18) are also ranked in addition to Carolina.
UNC reached as high as No. 16 last season during the week of Nov. 2 on the crest of an eight-game unbeaten streak that included wins over No. 18 Maryland and No. 19 Wake Forest.
Carolina returns to action Wednesday night at unranked UNC Grensboro.
