UNC Coach Anson Dorrance:
The first time we played, they were in a very organized bunker and we couldn't penetrate. They also had Joline Charlton. Not having her hurt them today.
It's a huge credit to them (Wake Forest) to have this success with losing two goalkeepers and suffering such adversity (this season).
We played with our hearts in the second half, and despite the fatigue, we scored some spectacular goals.
Jena (Kluegel) was consistent in beating her girl to the balls. She was spectacular on corner kicks. It's one of the best games from a flank midfielder I've ever seen.
It's one of the best games I've ever seen Kalli (Kamholz) play, her two goals not withstanding.
Since the Maryland game (in the first round of the ACC Tournament), we've had a focus and commitment that reminds me of the great teams in our history. We're coming together at the perfect time.
UNC defender Kalli Kamholz: We had a commitment to each other going into the ACC final. We played for each other. We have the heart and the mentality that this is what Carolina is built on.
UNC midfielder Jena Kluegel:
Obviously, after losing to anyone you want to come back and play harder. We have something to prove to ourselves. A lot of people had written us off after the three losses.
Wake Forest Coach Tony da Luz:
I'd just like to congratulate North Carolina. They're peaking at the right time. Through the ACC Tournament and in the NCAA Tournament they're playing at a very high level. I fully expect them to get to the Final Four.
We didn't defend as well as during the regular season when we won. It's playoff time. It's tournament time. UNC is well experienced and well focused at tournament time. I think that's probably the only change they made.
We knew what to expect. There's no secret in what UNC does. They just played well today.
I'm very proud of our team. We had 12 and a half players today. We had every injury and sickness happen to us during the season. Us making the tournament is a fantastic achievement.
