Chapel Hill, NC - Saturday morning witnessed the end to the Tar Heel men's quest for the Top of The Hill/ITA Region II Championship. Marcio Petrone and Trystan Meniane both lost in three set matches and fell out of the main draw singles bracket.

Petrone fell to William and Mary's Trevor Spracklin 3-6, 6-2, 7-5. The third set saw Petrone fight off eight match points before Spracklin capitalized on the ninth to take the match. Petrone finished 1-1 in singles play for the Championships and 1-1 in doubles with partner Nicholas Monroe.

Meniane was downed by Virginia Commonwealth's Fernado Sanchez 3-6, 6-3, 7-5. The loss left Meniane with a 1-1 singles record for the Championships.

The Tar Heel men now have a two-month break in their schedule until play resumes on January 26, 2001 at the ACC Indoors in Winston-Salem, NC.
