UNC Softball's Ramsey Named ACC Player Of Week

Kelly Ramsey's impressive start to the 2000 softball season has earned her Atlantic Coast Conference Player of the Week honors. The sophomore from Del Mar, Calif., batted .700 over the team's four games last week, all wins. Ramsey, who played two games at third and two at catcher, accounted for nine RBI. In the second game of a doubleheader sweep against Elon on Feb. 10, Ramsey went 2-for-3 with two triples.
Over their first four games, the Tar Heels are batting .424 as a team. UNC (4-0) hosts Minnesota on Thursday at 2 p.m. at Finley Field then heads for Raleigh and this weekend's Triangle Classic. In pool play at Walnut Creek Park, Carolina will face Purdue on Friday at 4 p.m., Temple on Friday at 6 p.m. and Akron on Saturday at noon. Bracket play begins on Saturday at 4 p.m.
