CHAPEL HILL, N.C. - North Carolina will try to continue its recent success on the tennis court Saturday when the Tar Heel men's team plays host to the University of Notre Dame at 1 p.m. at the Cone-Kenfield Tennis Center. Coach Sam Paul's 28th-ranked Tar Heels have won their last six matches in a row and improved to 9-2 overall an 2-0 in the Atlantic Coast Conference. The Tar Heels are only two victories short of their entire total for the 1999 campaign when Carolina finished at 11-14.
Notre Dame, however, will provide the Tar Heels with one of their most severe tests of the season. The Fighting Irish come to town with a #23 ranking by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association and a 9-5 overall record.
Saturday will mark the 17th time these two old rivals have met on the tennis court. North Carolina leads the all-time series 10-6.
Admission to the match is free. Weather is expected to be 75 degrees with clear, Carolina Blue skies.
