NORCROSS, Ga. - North Carolina's women's tennis team pounded NC State 5-0 to take the opening match of the 2000 ACC Women's Tennis Championship at the Racquet Club of the South Thursday.
After disposing ot the ninth-seeded Wolfpack (5-15, 0-8 ACC), the eighth-seeded Tar Heels (10-12, 2-6) will face the Wake Forest Deamon Deacons, the Championship's top seed and nation's third-ranked team, Friday.
UNC swept each singles match that was completed, and doubles matches were not contested with the match already decided. Jessica Zaganczyk's match at No. 2 singles was suspended.
Kendrick Bunn's win at No. 3 was her seventh consecutive and fifth in a row over an ACC opponent.
