CHAPEL HILL, N.C. - The University of North Carolina men's tennis team achieved another outstanding achievement Wednesday morning when it cracked the Top 20 of the Intercollegiate Tennis Association rankings. Coach Sam Paul's Tar Heels are now ranked #19 in the nation as they enter a big home weekend with matches against Atlantic Coast Conference rivals Georgia Tech Saturday at 1 p.m. and Clemson Sunday at 1 p.m
UNC has won nine dual matches in a row and is now 12-2 on the season and 3-0 in the Atlantic Coast Conference. The 19th-place national ranking is the highest for the UNC team since the 1996 squad finished the campaign ranked 16th by the ITA. Carolina's only losses have come early in the season to fellow Top 20 teams Texas and Texas A&M.
This weekend's matches are the final home matches of the season for the Tar Heels in the regular season. Admission is free at the Cone-Kenfield Tennis Center.
