Left fielder Tyrell Godwin and reliever Derrick DePriest have been named second-team All-Americas by the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association.
Godwin, a second-team All-ACC selection and a first-round draft pick of the Texas Rangers on Monday, ranked second on the Tar Heels in 2000 with a .363 batting average, 11 home runs and 24 stolen bases. His 67 RBIs were tied for the team lead and his .362 career batting average ranks fourth in the Carolina record book.
DePriest earned first-team All-ACC honors after leading the Tar Heels with a 2.89 ERA and 12 saves. DePriest finished his career with 124 appearances, good for second all-time at UNC. On Monday, he was selected by the Montreal Expos in the 17th round of the Major League Baseball First-Year Player Draft.
