Men's Soccer to Host Virginia Sunday in Battle of Top-10 Foes

The North Carolina men's soccer team will host Atlantic Coast Conference rival Virginia on Sunday aftternoon in a matchup of two teams ranked in the Top 10 nationally. Carolina (6-1 overall this season, 1-0 in the ACC) is ranked No. 10 in this week's Soccer America poll, while the Cavaliers (5-2, 1-0) are ranked No. 8 by Soccer America.
The two rivals will meet at 2 p.m. Sunday at Fetzer Field with first place in the conference at stake.
Carolina has won five games in a row. Last weekend, the Tar Heels went 2-0 at the Nike Carolina Classic, defeating Denver, 1-0, and Kentucky, 2-1. The Tar Heels are led by junior All-America candidate Chris Carrieri, who is tied for the ACC lead with seven goals. Carrieri ranks second in the ACC in points with 15 and has scored the game-winning goal in five of Carolina's six wins this season.
