Greensboro, N.C. - University of North Carolina senior midfielder Noz Yamauchi scored a goal and added a pair of assists to lead the No. 10 Tar Heels past No. 18 South Florida, 5-0, in second-day action from the adidas/Spartan Classic at the UNCG Soccer Stadium.
Carolina (10-2-0) used goals from five different players en route to its sixth consecutive victory and fourth straight at the adidas/Spartan Classic in two years of participation. The Tar Heels have outscored its opponents, 26-0, in four game at the Classic.
The Tar Heels, who defeated Georgia State 7-0 on Friday afternoon, have allowed just two goals in their six-game winning streak. Carolina has outscored its opponents, 22-2, in its six straight victories.
Junior Ryan Kneipper came off the bench to score the game's opening goal at the 35:41 mark. Yamauchi tallied the second goal for North Carolina at 42:44. Matt Crawford registered the assist on Yamauchi's score.
The Tar Heels erased any hope for the Bulls with three goals in the opening 20 minutes of the second half. David Testo, Logan Pause and Jonathan Davis all scored. Crawford added another assist.
North Carolina goalkeeper Michael Uetschey registered his fourth shutout of the season. The netminder recorded nine saves en route to the victory.
