Atlanta, Ga. - The North Carolina men's tennis team will compete in the ITA All-American Pre-Qualifying tournament this weekend in Atlanta, Georgia. The Tar Heels will be in action for the first time this season after posting an 11-9 record and finishing second in the ACC with a record of 6-2 in the 2000-01 season.

Senior Marcio Petrone, who is ranked #62 in the ITA pre-season singles rankings, leads the Heels. The Bairro, Meireles, Brazil native finished with a 16-15 record last season in singles play and is an automatic qualifier for the ITA All-American Qualifying tournament.

Others in action are junior Trystan Menaine, sophomore Nicholas Monroe and three Tar Heel newcomers -- sophomore transfer Andy Metzler (University of Kansas) and freshmen Daniel Pinchbeck and Geoff Boyd.
