Head Coach Matt Doherty
"First I'd like to congratulate Coach McKillop and the Davidson Wildcats. I appreciate the way they handled it afterwards. They handled it with class."
"We've got to be able to put the ball in the basket. We didn't shoot the ball."
"Today we went with a shorter lineup. I tried to reward the guys who played good defense versus Hampton."
"We've got to get better. We're not a good ball handling team."
On the team's condfidence...
"Its got to be low. After the game I was very positive with them. It does shake your confidence. We've got to start making shots."
"You're talking about young men that are very fragile at times."
"I think that we've got to make shots. That's all. Its simple."
"We tried to get the ball inside. Davidson's a very scrappy team and they came up with the loose balls."
"I had a feeling that this would be a challenging year. But I'm confident that we'll get better. We will get better."
"I thought Melvin certainly was a big positive. He's our best on the ball defender and he shot the ball better than anybody else tonight."
"It's a challenge to everybody. I thought it was a good crowd. They (the crowd) hung in till the end. I didn't see anybody leaving. If you're a Carolina fan, you'll be hanging with us."
Senior Jason Capel on the next step...
"I think guys are growing up. I have to do a better job as a leader. It's going to be a growth process. We're taking steps in the right direction, but a win would help. A little confidence would help, and we have to go from there."
Capel on the 12-man rotation...
"It's a little tough, but you can't use that as an excuse. We just have to get better, it's that simple. You can't pinpoint just one thing. We have to get better defensively, we have to shoot the ball better, and just come together as a team. When that happens, then we'll be happy. Until then, we've got to keep working at it every day."
Senior Kris Lang on senior responsibility...
"Right now it's for me to keep my confidence when my team is playing zone. Right now it's very frustrating, and when I do get the ball outside I gotta hit shots. I'm not hitting shots, and I have to step up to the plate. I'm a senior and I have to lead the team."
