*The Tar Heels are now 2-0 in NCAA play versus Portland. Carolina also beat the Pilots 1-0 in four overtimes in the 1998 NCAA semifinals.

*Elizabeth Ball's goal Friday was her first ever in NCAA play.
*In its last nine NCAA Tournament games the Tar Heels have won by a 2-1 score on six occasions. UNC won three of its last four games in the 2000 tournament by a 2-1 score and it has now won its last three games in the 2001 tournament by that same 2-1 score.
*Carolina has won 15 successive NCAA Tournament games.
*On Sunday the Tar Heels will be seeking to become the first undefeated and untied national champion since UNC won the title in 1993 when Carolina was 23-0-0. The last three teams to enter the NCAA Tournament undefeated and untied failed to win the championship. UNC lost in the semifinals in 1995 and in the championship game in 1998 and Santa Clara lost in the semifinals in 1999.
*UNC is now 7-0 all-time against Portland.
*Santa Clara enters Sunday's championship game against UNC with a one-game winning streak over the Tar Heels. The last time the two teams played on September 24, 1999 in Durham, N.C, the Broncos beat Carolina 1-0.
*UNC is 4-0 all-time against Santa Clara in NCAA Tournament games. The Tar Heels lead their series with the Broncos 13-1.
*In the last 20 games played in the NCAA Women's Soccer Final Four 16 games have been decided by one goal and the other four by two goals. The last blowout game was in the 1994 championship game when UNC defeated Notre Dame 5-0. Of the last 20 games the only contests with two goal margins were Portland over SMU 4-2 in the 1995 semifinals, UNC over Connecticut 2-0 in the 1997 championship game, UNC over Penn State 2-0 in the 1999 semifinals and UNC 2-0 over Notre Dame in the 2000 championship game.
*Friday night's Florida and Santa Clara game was the fourth Final Four game to go to overtime in the past six years. The 1995 and 1996 national championship games were decided in overtime as was UNC's semifinal win over Portland in 1998.
*Anson Dorrance improved to 511-22-11 in his 23 years as head coach with Carolina's win over Portland on Friday night.
*The NCAA Women's Soccer Final Four moves to the University of Texas' Mike A. Meyers Stadium for 2002 and 2003 which will make it three straight years for the College Cup in the state of Texas.
*UNC's appearance in Sunday's NCAA championship game is its 19th in the 20-year history of the tournament.
*The Tar Heels have now won 33 successive games.
*If Danielle Borgman starts in Sunday's championship game it will be her 101st successive start. With it she would tie the UNC record for games started in a career. Cindy Parlow and Tiffany Roberts both started 101 games in their careers from 1995-98.
*Midfielder Jena Kluegel will likely earn her 98th career start as a Tar Heel in Sunday's final game.
*Alyssa Ramsey recorded her 19th assist of the season on Friday. That equals the sixth most in a season in UNC history. Mia Hamm had 19 in 1990 and Kristine Lilly had 19 in 1992.
*The University of North Carolina has won 30 national championships in its history heading into Sunday's game-17 in women's soccer, four in men's basketball, four in field hockey, four in men's lacrosse and one in women's basketball.
*Carolina has scored 79 goals this season. The only two UNC teams to score fewer goals were the 1979 team with 78 and the 1988 team with 58.
