* Carolina has advanced to the ACC Tournament Final for the ninth time in the past 11 years and the 12th time in the past 15 years.
* UNC has won its last 13 ACC Tournament semifinal games. The last time Carolina lost in the semifinals was 1984.
* Carolina has advanced to the ACC Tournament final for the 27th time in 48 appearances overall.
* Carolina is now 4-2 in ACC Tournament games against Georgia Tech and the Tar Heels have defeated the Yellow Jackets seven consecutive times overall.
* Carolina is now 25-5 on the season, the 27th 25-win season in school history and first since 1998.
* Carolina is 35-9 all-time in ACC Tournament play as the No. 1 seed.
* Carolina will play Duke in the ACCTournament final for the third time in four years. Carolina defeated Duke in 1998 but lost to the Blue Devils in the 1999 ACC Tournament Final.
* UNC has appeared in the championship game of the ACC Tournament 14 times as the No. 1 seed, going 8-5 in 13 previous appearances. The last time UNC won the Tournament as the top seed was 1982. Matt Doherty was a sophomore on that team and scored 11 points in the final against Virginia.
* Carolina has lost its last three championship games as the No. 1 seed (1987, 1988 and 1993).
* Carolina has not gone consecutive seasons without playing in the championship game of the ACC Tournament since 1983-84.
* Kris Lang suffered a sprained right ankle in the first half. X-rays were negative and he returned to action in the second half.
* Kris Lang surpassed the 1,000-point plateau with three points in today's 70-63 win. He's now scored 1,001 points in his UNC career. Lang is Carolina's 53rd 1,000-point scorer. On UNC's current team, Jason Capel (who surpassed the 1,000-point mark in Friday's win over Clemson), Brendan Haywood and Joseph Forte have also scored 1,000 points in their careers.
* Brendan Haywood had 13 points, four rebounds and three blocks. He also held first-team All-ACC center Alvin Jones to just seven points on 3-for-16 shooting.
* Joseph Forte led the Tar Heels in scoring with 27 points. It was his his 20th 20-point game of the year and his 18th in the last 23 games.
* Carolina has won five straight ACC Tournament games in Atlanta and is 8-2 overall in Atlanta. The Tar Heels won the 1989 ACC Tournament in the Omni.
* Carolina will be trying to win its record 16th ACC Tournament title on Sunday.
