Women's Golf Finishes Seventh At Gamecock

North Carolina's women's golf team fired a team score of 322 to finish the weekend at 954 and in seventh place at this weekend's Lady Gamecock Classic. Duke overcame a two shot deficit entering the day to win the event with a team score of 23-over-par 887, while Georgia fell to second at 892. Louisiana State finished the weekend in third at 913, while Wake Forest finished in fourth place at 925. Tournament host South Carolina rounded out the top five at 936.
Individually, Georgia's Angela Jerman defeated LSU's Katy Harris in a playoff to win the event. Both golfers finished the weekend at three-over-par 219. Duke's Kristina Engstrom fired the low round of the day with a 71 to finish in third place one shot back at 220. Fellow Blue Devil Kalen Anderson ended the weekend in fourth place at five-over-par 221, while South Carolina's Kristy McPherson was fifth at six-over-par 222.
For the Tar Heels, junior Beth Lever led the way, finishing in 19th place at 16-over-par 232. Shelley McKevitt fired a final round 74 to finish in 22nd place at 19-over-par 235. Ashley Prange ended the weekend tied for 24th place at 21-over-par 237, while Britta Olson rounded out the Tar Heels in 52nd place at 40-over-par 256. Heather Angell withdrew from the tournament after experiencing dizzy spells during Sunday's round.
The tournament was played at The University Club, which features a par-72, 5, 996 yard course.
