Women's Lacrosse To Host No. 5 Georgetown on Saturday

CHAPEL HILL, N.C. -- The University of North Carolina women's lacrosse team, ranked No. 6 in the country in this week's Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association (IWLCA) poll, will play host to No. 5 Georgetown on Saturday afternoon at 1 p.m. The game will be played at Fetzer Field in Chapel Hill.
Saturday's women's lacrosse game has been designated as a Wachovia Challenge Event with an attendance goal of 225. The first 100 fans to arrive at Fetzer Field will receive free CD holders, courtesy of Wachovia.
The game will feature two of the top three scoring offenses in the nation. Thus far this season, the Hoyas are ranked second nationally with 14.00 goals per game and Carolina is third with 13.90. Georgetown also boasts the third-best scoring defense in the country at 5.67 goals allowed per game. Carolina ranks 19th in the country in scoring defense at 7.80 goals allowed per contest.
The Hoyas are 7-1 this season, with their only loss coming against Duke. Georgetown has defeated four ranked opponents this year -- No. 13 Vanderbilt on March 4, No. 20 Virginia Tech on March 7, No. 11 William & Mary on March 14 and No. 10 Syracuse on March 17.
The Tar Heels have won four games in a row entering Saturday's contest. UNC is led offensively this season by a quartet of 20-goal scorers. Kellie Thompson (27), Amy Havrilla (27) and Christine McPike (27) are tied for second in the Atlantic Coast Conference in goals scored, and Lindsay Stone (20) is 10th.
