CAROLINA GYMNASTICS TRAVELS TO GEORGE WASHINGTON

CHAPEL HILL, N.C.-- Carolina gymnastics travels to Washington, D.C. to compete in the George Washington Invitational on Saturday January 19 at noon. Teams competing at the George Washington Invitational include Cornell, James Madison, William & Mary, Pennsylvania and Temple.
Carolina defeated William & Mary Monday night 192.550-185.600 to bring the series record to 30-8. Sophomore transferred Anna Wilson placed first in the all-around with a score of 38.850. Wilson will compete against Pennsylvania where she competed during her freshman year. While at Penn she set all-time school records in the all-around, vault, uneven parallel bars and floor exercise.
Freshman Amy Williams set a school record on vault during her first collegiate meet at William & Mary with a 9.950. Freshman Olivia Trusty placed first on floor with a 9.825.
Coming off the win against WIlliam & Mary top Carolina returners include senior Monica Middleton, juniors Fritzie Cathcart and Natalie Halbach and sophomore Maddy Curley. Middleton scored a 9.800 on vault taking second place. Curley took second in the all-around with a 38.625. Cathcart placed third and scored a personal best on vault with a 9.700, while Halbach scored a 9.850 to take second on beam.
