Gymnastics Tops Minnesota, Records Highest Score Of The Season

CHAPEL HILL, N.C. – No. 18 University of North Carolina gymnastics competed against no. 13 Minnesota Friday night at Carmichael Arena. The Tar Heels took home the win with an overall team score of 197.200. Carolina's score marks their highest of the season and fourth-best in program history.

All-Around

Sydney Seabrooks tied for first in the all-around with a score of 39.450. The freshman was the lone Tar Heel to compete in the event Friday night.

Rotation One – Vault (49.250)

Kaya Forbes led the Tar Heels with a 9.925, tying her personal best of the season. Forbes was the top scorer of the night on vault. JoJo Valahovic followed closely behind, earning a score of 9.875.

Rotation Two – Bars (49.150)

Paige Prejean and Gwen Fink each recorded a 9.850 leading the way for UNC on bars. Anna Pearl Stanley and Seabrooks both notched a 9.825 for the second-best scores for Carolina on the event.

Rotation Three – Beam (49.425)

JoJo Valahovic led the way scoring a 9.950 for the second time this season and fourth overall in her career. Valahovic was crowned the event winner. Claire Stippich and Seabrooks also shined on beam for the Tar Heels. Both gymnasts recorded a 9.900. Carolina's team score on beam is the highest since 2001.

Rotation Four – Floor (49.375)

Carolina ended the night with two career highs from Kaya Forbes (9.900) and Camryn Rueda (9.925). Seabrooks also notched a 9.900 giving three Tar Heels a 9.900 or higher on floor. The team's score of 49.375 was their second-best of the night.
