Outside hitter Molly Pyles (volleyball) was named this week?s Atlantic Coast Conference Player of the Week and the Carolina Waterscapes Student-Athlete of the Week for October 7-13.
The Hendersonville, N.C., native tallied double-doubles against ACC foes Duke and Wake Forest.
Pyles posted 18 kills and 17 digs, both career highs, in defeating the Blue Devils, 3-1. She followed that performance with a 13-kill, 11-dig effort in UNC?s 3-0 win over the Deacons. In the two matches, she averaged 4.43 kills and 4.00 digs per game and had a .394 hitting percentage.
The Tar Heel are ranked No. 11 in the AVCA Coaches Poll, the highest ranking any ACC team has ever achieved.
