UNC Women's Golf Team Finishes Fourth At Lady Paladin Invitational

Greenville, S.C. ? The University of North Carolina Women's golf team finished the Lady Paladin Invitational in fourth place behind winner and host school, Furman. The Tar Heels' final round score of 295 put them at a total of 890 for the tournament and 10 shots back of first place. UNC held a share of the lead with Furman after the first round but the Paladins took sole possession of first after the second round. Furman then won the tournament with a total 16-over-par 880. South Carolina held second place with an 884 andTCU finished third with an 887.
UNC junior Ashley Prange, who had the first round lead, finished tied for third place as she shot a two-under-par 70 on Sunday. Prange shot a total even par 216 and finished four shots back of the lead. Brooke Tull of TCU won the Lady Paladin with a total four-under 212. Leigh Turner of Furman finished in second place with a one-under 215. Brandi Jackson of Furman tied with Prange for third place, also with an even par 216.
UNC's junior Meaghan Francella and senior Abby Spector tied for 14th place after both shooting seven-over 223's. Freshman Josie Shinn shot a 12-over 228 and tied for 31st place. Senior Meghan Adams finished tied for 57th, carding a 19-over 235.
The 54-hole event was played at the par 72, 5,917-yard Furman University Golf Course. The Tar Heels will travel to Southern Pines, N.C., on November 4-5 for the Pine Needles Intercollegiate.
