Defending national champion North Carolina (14-6-1) will visit Penn State (14-7-1) on Wednesday in the second round of the 2002 NCAA Men's College Cup tournament. The winner of tonight's game will advance to face the winner of the game between Virginia and William & Mary next weekend.
A live audio broadcast will be available on Penn State's official website, gopsusports.com.
The game at Penn State will be Carolina's first NCAA Tournament road game since a 2-1 overtime loss at Furman three years ago in the 1999 NCAA first round. UNC has gone 6-1 in NCAA Tournament games at home in the last three seasons and 2-0 at the College Cup semifinals and finals at Columbus, Ohio, in 2001.
Last Friday night, the Tar Heels shutout Winthrop, 6-0, in the NCAA First Round at Fetzer Field in Chapel Hill. Ryan Kneipper tied a school record with five goals in the game. Matt Crawford tied an NCAA Tournament record with three assists against the Eagles.
