Gymnasts Take First Place At NC State Invitational

RALEIGH, N.C.--The University of North Carolina gymnastics team claimed first place and set a school team total record at the NC State Invitational with a score of 196.150. The Tar Heels also set a school total vault record of 49.050.

Senior Monica Middleton placed second and tied her personal best in the all-around with a 39.200. Middleton placed fifth on floor with a 9.875 and seventh on bars with a 9.800. Sophomore Anna Wilson captured fourth place with a 39.075. Wilson and freshman Amy Williams were in a four way tie for second place on vault with a 9.825.

Junior Fritzie Cathcart placed first and set a personal best with a score of 9.875. Cathcart also tied her her personal best of 9.850 on floor exercise to claim 11th place.

Sophomore Maddy Curley set a personal best and tied for second on floor with a score of 9.925. Freshman Olivia Trusty scored a 9.925 in a three way tie for second place on floor exercise. Trusty placed 11th on bars with a 9.775.

Carolina gymnastics will be inaction again when they travel to Minnesota on March 9, at 7 p.m.
