CHAPEL HILL --The University of North Carolina women's lacrosse team will play its first road game of the 2002 season on Saturday when the Tar Heels will travel to Charlottesville to face the University of Virginia.
The game will be a matchup between the two undefeated teams atop the Atlantic Coast Conference standings. Carolina (5-1, 2-0 ACC) is ranked No. 3 in this week's IWLCA national poll. Virginia (5-2, 1-0) is ranked No. 6.
Should Carolina win on Saturday, it will finish the 2002 ACC campaign with a perfect record of 3-0 and claim its second regular-season ACC championship in the last three years.
Virginia would still have one remaining conference game on April 6 at Duke.
The Cavaliers are led by the ACC's leading scorer, Lauren Aumiller, who has 40 points (24 goals and a conference-leading 16 assists).
UNC is led by seniors Lindsay Stone (3.50 goals per game, second-best in the ACC) and Kellie Thompson (3.17 gpg, fifth-best in the ACC), both of whom are among the top five scorers in the conference.
Carolina and Virginia will face off at noon on Saturday.
