UNC Rowing Fourth At ACC Championship

CLEMSON, S.C.--North Carolina rower Layne Carey earned All-Atlantic Coast Conference honors Saturday as UNC finished fourth at the ACC Rowing Championships.
On Lake Hartwell, Virginia swept the four events to earn its third consecutive conference title with a total of 40 points. With 26 points, Duke edged Clemson for second place. The host Tigers were third with 24 points, and Carolina finished with 10.
Duke coach Robyn Horner was named ACC Coach of the Year and Virginia's varsity eight was named ACC Crew of the Year.
Carey, a senior from Tucson, Ariz., is in her third year on the UNC rowing team after competing in volleyball for the Tar Heels as a freshman. She was joined on the All-ACC team by Lucy Doolittle (Virginia), Madeline Engel (Virginia), Aimee Fox (Clemson), Joanna Hingle (Duke), Katie Lakin (Duke), Lauren Mitterer (Virginia), Lauren Richards (Virginia) and Meg Van Dam (Virginia).
