CHAPEL HILL -- The University of North Carolina women's lacrosse team moved up one spot to No. 4 in the latest Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association poll, the IWLCA announced on Tuesday.
The Tar Heels are one of only three teams to have been ranked in the top five in all seven polls this season. Princeton and Georgetown are the others.
Princeton is No. 1 this week, replacing Georgetown at the top of the poll. The Hoyas, who are ranked second this week, were ranked No. 1 before Carolina beat them, 11-10, in Washington D.C., last Sunday. Virginia is No. 3, followed by UNC.
Cornell is No. 5, followed by No. 6 Loyola, No. 7 Duke, No. 8 Vanderbilt, No. 9 Notre Dame and No. 10 Penn State. The other Atlantic Coast Conference team in the poll, Maryland, is ranked No. 13 after falling to 6-6 this season.
Carolina will play two more ranked teams this weekend in its final tuneups before the ACC Tournament, which will be played Apr. 19 and 21 in Durham, N.C.
This weekend, the Tar Heels will host No. 8 Vanderbilt on Friday at 7 p.m. at Fetzer Field before travelling to play at No. 11 James Madison on Sunday at 1 p.m. in Harrisonburg, Va.
