Former UNC centerfielder Adam Greenberg hit for the cycle Saturday evening in just his seventh game with the Daytona Cubs of the Florida State League.
He led off the bottom of the first inning with a home run, hit a two-run triple to right in the second inning and had a bunt single and a double in the fourth as the Cubs routed to St. Lucie Mets, 17-1, at Jackie Robinson Ballpark in Daytona Beach.
"It's probably the best overall night I've ever had playing baseball," Greenberg told the Daytona Beach News-Journal. "It's a night I'll remember for a long time. I may never do this again."
Greenberg finished the game 5-for-6 with five runs and four RBIs. He is batting .476 through seven games with Chicago's Class A affiliate.
Greenberg was drafted by the Chicago Cubs organization in the ninth round of June's Major League Baseball Draft after three standout seasons with the Tar Heels.
