No. 8 Women's Tennis Falls To No. 10 Tennessee

CHAPEL HILL - The eighth-ranked University of North Carolina women's tennis team lost a hard-fought match to 10th-ranked Tennessee Saturday afternoon at the Cone-Kenfield Tennis Center.
The Tar Heels came out strong to capture the doubles point, but fell to the Volunteers in five of six close singles matches to account for a final 5-2 match score.
At flight one doubles, the No. 42 sophomore pair of Aniela Mojzis and Kendall Cline rolled past the No. 5 Tennessee pair of Vilmarie Castellvi and Melissa Schaug 8-3.
The Tar Heels clinched the doubles point with a win at flight three, where Carolina's Marlene Mejia and Lee Bairos battled to defeat Sabita Maharaj and Crystal Cleveland 9-7.
airos claimed the Tar Heels only singles' point of the match at flight five by defeating Tennessee's Maharaj 6-1, 6-2.
Carolina will host No. 45 Florida State Saturday, March 29 at the Cone-Kenfield Tennis Center.
