Women's Tennis Breezes Past Florida State

CHAPEL HILL, N.C-The eleventh-ranked women's tennis team defeated No. 43 Florida State, 6-1, at the Cone-Kenfield Tennis Center today at 11 a.m.
Carolina swept the doubles play with No. 17 Aniela Mojzis and Kendall Cline winning their match against Anca Dumitrescu and Mihaela Moldovan.
The Tar Heels also won six of seven singles matches clenching the victory over Florida State and improving their record to 10-6. In singles play, No. 13 Kate Pinchbeck took on No. 55 Dumitrescu winning 6-3, 6-0 at the top spot. Carolina's Marlene Mejia, ranked 47th nationally, won the No. 2 match against No. 83 Moldovan.
Mejia and Lee Bairos also defeated Amberly Tantee and Daniela Gheorghe in the No. 2 spot, 8-6, while at No. 3 doubles, Pinchbeck and Tanja Markovic beat Brooke Cordell and Christina Denny, 9-7.
UNC's No. 65 Mojzis won at No. 3 singles over Denny. At No. 4 singles, Kendall Cline defeated Gheorghe, and at No. 5 singles, Bairos defeated Cordell to add to the Tar Heel victory.
The team plays next against ACC opponent Wake Forest in Winston-Salem on April 1.
