No. 12 Women's Tennis Falls to ACC Rival No. 17 Clemson

CLEMSON, S.C.-The Clemson Tigers, ranked 17th, upset the 12th-ranked UNC women's tennis team Sunday with a final score of 4-3. The Tar Heels won the doubles point, but lost in four out of six singles matches.
Carolina's No. 16 doubles pair, Kendall Cline and Aniela Mojzis, defeated Clemson's Julie Coin and Laurence Jayet, ranked 27th, with a score of 8-3. No. 60 doubles, Kendrick Bunn and Kate Pinchbeck, beat the unranked pair of Anna Dolinska and Richele LeSaldo, 8-6, to clench the doubles point. UNC's Lee Bairos and Marlene Mejia fell to the No. 48 tigers, Daniela Alvarez and Alix Lacelarie.
In singles action, only Cline and Bunn walked away with victories. At No. 4 singles, Cline beat Ioana Paun, while Bunn defeated Ana Stiglic at No. 6 singles.
Mejia, ranked 38th in singles play, lost her match to No. 19 Coin at one singles. Mojzis, ranked 67th, Bairos, and Markovic were also defeated. Clemson's No. 106 Lacelarie won her match against Mojzis, 6-3, 6-3. At flight three, Bairos fell to Alvarez, 6-3, 6-0, while at No. 5 the Tiger's Jayet defeated Markovic, 6-2, 6-4.
The Tar Heels fall to 15-7 overall and 6-2 in the Atlantic Coast Conference. UNC plays next in the ACC tournament April 17-20 in Raleigh, N.C.
