Women's Golf Team In 11th Place After Two Rounds At Liz Murphey Collegiate Classic

ATHENS, Ga. ? The University of North Carolina women's golf team finished second-round action in the Liz Murphey Collegiate Classic today with a 17-over-par 303. That, plus Friday's 307, gives the team a total 610 score and puts it in 11th place in a field of 20 teams.
Florida and Duke are tied for first place with identical scores of 295 and 293 in the first two rounds, giving them a total 588 going into Sunday's final round. Georgia and Wake Forest are tied for third at 593.
Duke's Elizabeth Janangelo and Ohio State's Lindsay Knowlton hold the lead in the individual race. Janangelo shot a second round three-under 69 and Knowlton shot a two-under 70 today, giving them both a total 141. Four players are tied for third at even par 144: Alabama's Darby Sligh, Oklahoma State's Karin Sjodin, Wake Forest's Ashley Hoagland and South Carolina's Tiffany Catafygiotu.
Tar Heel junior Meaghan Francella shot even par today, UNC's best round of the tournament. After a first-round 78, she is tied for 26th with a total 150.
Junior Ashley Prange is tied for 35th after carding a 74 and 78 for a total eight-over 152. Senior Abby Spector finished today with a six-over 78 which, combined with Friday's 77, ties her for 49th. Freshman Beth Marushak shot a 75 today and an 85 on Friday, totaling for a 161 and a tie for 70th. Senior Meghan Adams is tied for 84th, shooting rounds of 78 and 86 for a total 164. Junior Stacy Hilton played the tournament as an unattached individual. She added a second-round 82 to her first-round 88 and is in 91st place with a total score of 170.
The Liz Murphey Collegiate Classic is a 54-hole event played at The University of Georgia Course, a par 72, 6,014-yard layout. The third and final round will be played Sunday.
