Tar Heels Defeated Charleston in NCAA Tournament, 4-0

North Carolina won every set and had singles wins from its #4, 5 and 6 players to lead the Tar Heels to a 4-0 win over the College of Charleston in the first round of the NCAA Women's Tennis Championship Saturday afternoon at UNC's Cone-Kenfield Tennis center.
Earlier, Clemson sophomore Julie Coin posted a match-clinching singles win and teamed with Laurence Jayet to record an 8-0 victory in doubles to lead the Tigers to a 4-1 win over Baylor.
The 19th-ranked Tigers (19-5) and the 11th-ranked Tar Heels (18-8) square off in the second round Sunday (May 11) at 1 p.m. The teams split a pair of matches earlier this year. The Tigers edged the Tar Heels, 4-3, in Clemson, and UNC swept Clemson, 4-0, in the ACC Tournament.
Dallas, Texas, sophomore Kendall Cline had a 6-1, 6-2 win at #4 singles over Maike Hartung and teamed with Aniela Mojzis to win, 8-3, at #1 doubles.
Lee Bairos won 6-0, 6-1 at #5 singles and Kendrick Bunn won 6-2, 6-0 at #6 singles. Senior Kate Pinchbeck and Bunn combined for a 8-0 triumph at #3 doubles.
Pinchbeck, ranked #13 in the nation singles, was leading Rachel Magory, 6-2, 5-2 (40-15) in #1 singles, when the match was suspended after Cline clinched the victory with her win at #6 singles.
The College of Charleston finishes the year with a 22-4 record. It was just the second loss in the last 24 matches.
Coin, a native of Amiens, France, beat Baylor senior Vida Mulec, 6-2, 6-3 to secure the fourth and deciding point for the Tigers.
