Carolina's Meniane Advances at NCAA's

ATHENS, GA - Carolina's Trystan Meniane and Nicholas Monroe began play at the NCAA Singles Championship Wednesday morning at the University of Georgia. Meniane defeated Harvard's David Lingman 7-6, 7-6 to advance to the round of 32. Meniane will face Florida's Hamid Mirzadeh (seeded 9-16) on Thursday morning.
Monroe lost to California's Robert Kowalzyk 7-5, 6-4. Monroe was down 5-2 in the first set before rallying to knot the score 5-5. Monroe completes his junior year with a team leading 23 singles victories.
Meniane and Monroe, ranked 17th in the Omni Hotels/ITA Collegiate Tennis Rankings, begin play in the doubles portion of the tournament on Thursday. Meniane and Monroe will face Vanderbilt's Scott Brown and Chad Harris in the 1st round (round of 32).
