Carolina Golfers In Ninth Place At NCAA Fall Preview

AUBURN, Ala. - North Carolina's women's golf team fired a 302 total and is in ninth place after the first round of the NCAA Fall Preview. Host Auburn leads the 18-team field with a two-under-par 286 total. Duke is one shot back at 287 while Arizona is in third place at 289, Vanderbilt and Pepperdine are tied for fourth at 295 and Oklahoma is sixth at 296.
Brittany Lang of Duke leads all individuals after firing a five-under 67. Auburn's Nicole Hage and Arizona's Cassandra Kirkland are one stroke back in a tie for second place at 68. Lisa Meldrum of Oklahoma is in fourth place at three-under 69 while Duke's Liz Janagelo and Pepperdine's Carolina Llano are tied for fifth at 70.
Meaghan Francella is the low Tar Heel after firing an even par 72 and is tied for 11th place. Ashley Prange carded a 74 and is tied for 21st place while Romi Irons and Katie Miller both posted a 78 and are tied for 53rd place and Beth Marushak shot 82 and is tied for 79th.
The 54-hole event continues through Sunday and is being played at the Grand National Lake Course which features a par 72, 6,215-yard layout and will be the site of next spring's NCAA Championship.
