CHAPEL HILL, N.C. - Just two days removed from a 1-0 win over Harvard, the North Carolina men's soccer team (7-1-1, 1-1-0 ACC) travels to Fairfax, Va., to take on George Mason (5-3-1) Tuesday at 7 p.m. The Tar Heels are 6-0-1 against non-conference competition this season.
Last year, Carolina defeated GMU, 2-0, in Chapel Hill. The all-time series between the two teams is tied, 2-2-1, but the Tar Heels have won the last two meetings.
UNC is coming off a 2-0 week, with wins over Harvard and Duke. Freshman Wes Shull scored the double-overtime, game-winner against the Blue Devils, while rookie Jamie Watson gave Carolina the 1-0 win over the Crimson with his second game-winning score of the season. He ranks third on the team with eight points on three goals and two assists. Junior forward Marcus Storey continues to lead the Tar Heels in the scoring column with five goals and 11 points.
The Patriots are topped Quinnipiac 1-0 on Friday to snap a three-game losing streak. Sophomore forward Steve Alabi leads George Mason in scoring with seven goals and three assists for 17 points. Junior Karim Manneh ranks second with six goals and two assists for 14 points. John O'Hara has gone all but six minutes in goal this season and owns a 1.42 goals against average.
UNC goalkeeper Ford Williams recorded his third shutout Sunday against Harvard. He sports a 0.67 GAA.
Following Tuesday's match, Carolina returns home to face top-ranked Maryland on Sunday at 2 p.m.
