Tar Heels Rank Among National Attendance Leaders for 2003

CHAPEL HILL, N.C. - With an average of 2,040 fans per home match, the University of North Carolina men's soccer team ranked fifth among NCAA Division I schools in average attendance during the 2003 season. The Tar Heels were one of just five teams to average more than 2,000 fans per game.
Despite just the seven home dates, Carolina finished eighth in the country in total attendance with 14,283 fans. St. Louis led the nation in average attendance with 2,779 fans, while Maryland had the highest total attendance with 27,585 in 15 home matches.
The Tar Heels, who earned the No. 4 seed in the 2003 NCAA Tournament, finished the season with a 12-4-4 record. Carolina will return nine starters and its top seven scorers next season, including first-team All-Atlantic Coast Conference forward Marcus Storey and league Rookie of the Year Jamie Watson.
