CHAPEL HILL, N.C. - Unfortunately, for my teammates and I, the Anglers pulled off the stunning upset and defeated the Fish Unit/BoSox in five games. As a result, we have to run 10 miles, while the Anglers just have to run five. Ask me how happy I am about that.
We can't make any excuses though, as we just got outplayed and had to scrap and claw for the two games that we won.
This year's Fall World Series was very intense and probably the most competitive one I've been apart of over my career here at Carolina. With the stakes so high, the atmosphere on the field was postseason-like, creating an environment for some very hype games. Pretty much every game was a close battle and many different players stepped up and made big plays in each game.
Without a doubt, the series will make everyone a better player and provide the younger players the experience of playing in game-like situations. There were a lot of bright spots throughout the week, highlighted by strong performances from the pitching staff. The defense was solid and the offense came up with several big hits in clutch situations.
The series wrapped up fall practice on a positive note and provided an optimistic outlook on the upcoming season. In the meantime, I'll be loading up songs on my roommate's (Mark Griffin) IPOD for the 10-mile run.
