Tar Heels Fall To Oklahoma State 4-3

The North Carolina softball team lost a heartbreaking 4-3 decision to Oklahoma State on Thursday. After the Tar Heels tied the game at three in the sixth inning, Oklahoma State won the game in the bottom of the seventh after a wild pitch and an error by UNC allowed the winning run to cross the plate.
Oklahoma State got off to a 2-0 lead in the first inning but UNC closed the gap to one in the top of the second inning with a Anna Evans RBI single. Oklahoma State regained a two-run advantage in the bottom of the inning, but UNC's Dionne Streete countered in the top of the third with a solo home run to cut the deficit back to one.
The Oklahoma State lead stayed at one until the sixth inning when the Tar Heels rallied to tie the score up at 3. Emily Price scored off a Jessica Young double and UNC was able to keep the score tied until the bottom of the seventh. The Cowgirls won the game when UNC's Crystal Cox threw a wild pitch that was followed by an error allowing OSU to score the winning run.
Cox pitched 6 1/3 innings allowing two earned runs and two uneaned runs. She walked five batters and let off six hits, while striking out five.
North Carolina falls to 3-3 on the season and will next head to Norman, Okla. for the OU/Nike Tournament Friday through Sunday. They kick off the tournament on Friday at 10 a.m. against Sam Houston State in a doubleheader. The Tar Heels will play a doubleheader Saturday at 2:30 p.m. versus fourth-ranked Oklahoma and then wrap up play Sunday versus Louisville at 10 a.m.
