Price Named ACC Softball Player of the Week

Greensboro, N.C. - North Carolina's Emily Price was named this week's Atlantic Coast Conference Softball Player of the Week, after leading the Tar Heels to a 4-0 record last week, outscoring their opponents 26-2.
Price, a senior from Decatur, Ill., helped North Carolina sweep Coastal Carolina and Charleston Southern over the weekend. The senior was 7 for 9 at the plate, batting .778 and slugging 1.778. She posted six RBIs and three home runs, while drawing four walks and no strike outs.
In North Carolina's 3-0 win over Coastal Carolina, Price hit a solo home run in the third inning to break open a scoreless game and then hit a two-run homer in the top of the seventh inning to seal the Tar Heel victory. In the 4-2 victory over the Buccaneers, the shortstop hit a home run with North Carolina trailing 2-1 in the sixth inning to tie the game at 2-2. She had a fielding percentage of 1.000 and an on-base percentage of .846 for the week.
Price is hitting .403 on the season with eight home runs and 31 RBIs. She has a .667 slugging percentage and .465 on-base percentage for the season.
Price and the Tar Heels return to action on Wednesday as they face Furman in Greenville, S.C. Game time is set for 2 p.m. for the first of a doubleheader.
