Women's Golf Moves Up To Fourth In LSU/Cleveland Golf Classic

BATON ROUGE, La. - The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill women's golf team is now in fourth place, up one spot from Friday, after two rounds at the LSU/Cleveland Golf Classic in Baton Rouge, La. The Tar Heels shot a 17-over-par 305 today for a total 611. It is seven shots behind leader Tulane, who shot a two-over 296 total 604 and climbed from sixth place.
The first-round leader Alabama fell to fifth place at 614. Host school Louisiana State holds second place at 607 and Mississippi is in third at 609.
Carolina senior Ashley Prange jumped from fifth to first place with a one-under 71 today for a total even par 144. Prange carded the only under-par score of the day. The second place golfers are Brooke Shelton of LSU and Adrienne Gautreaux of South Carolina who are at two-over 146.
UNC senior Meaghan Francella has moved up a spot to a ninth-place tie after shooting four-over today for a total seven-over 151.
Other Tar Heel scores include freshman Katie Miller tied for 22nd place with a five-over 77 and total 155; sophomore Beth Marushak tied for 46th place with an nine-over 81 and total 161; and sophomore Romi Irons tied for 62nd with a nine-over 81 and total 165.
The LSU/Cleveland Golf Classic is being played at The University Club, a 6,265-yard, par 72 course. The third round will be played Sunday with a shotgun start at 8:30 a.m. CST.
