
Tar Heels Win at Temple, 12-5

PHILADELPHIA - Sophomore Brooke Dieringer had a game-high three goals as No. 13 North Carolina, defeated Temple, 12-5, on April 2 at Geasey Field in Philadelphia. The Tar Heels are now 7-3 on the season, while the Owls are 2-5.
Dieringer led North Carolina with a game-high three goals. Jess Allen (2 goals) and Melissa McCarthy (1 goal, 1 assist) also had multi-point games for the Tar Heels. Kristen Hordy had nine saves for North Carolina and Katelyn Hoffman had seven saves.
Carolina scored first, before the game was one minute old when Jess Allen scored her first of the game at 29:17. The Tar Heels would add five more goals before Temple answered on a free position shot by Frengs with 8:17 left in the first half.
After Pulaski scored on a feed from Capaldo with 5:53 remaining before intermission, the Owls appeared to have life and momentum trailing 6-2 at the break.
In the second stanza the teams traded goals early before Carolina scored twice to go up by six goals. In fact, the Tar Heels would go on to match their first half goal total with six goals while the Owls produced four.
Carolina will return to action with a game at No. 2 Georgetown on Sunday at 1 p.m. in Washington, D.C.
