UNC Men's Soccer Adds Stokes Smith to Incoming Class

CHAPEL HILL, N.C. - In addition to its nine singees earlier this spring, the University of North Carolina has added Orlando, Fla., native Stokes Smith to its 2004 freshman class Tar Heel head coach Elmar Bolowich announced Thursday.
A midfielder and forward, Smith has served as team captain of the Florida Olympic Development Program (ODP) teams and scored winning goals in both the Region III ODP Championship and the Florida State Club Championship. Smith plays club soccer with FC Omni America. Smith also finished second in the National Junior Triathlon Championships in Clermont, Fla. He is also a state champion swimmer and participated in wrestling.
With the addtion of Smith, the Tar Heels have now signed 10 student-athletes to join the program next season. Coming of a 12-4-4 record and its fifth straight trip to the NCAA Tournament, Carolina returns nine starters from last year's team.
